Ok, I'll be honest.
I always buy a Daily Keno ticket here in hopes to score $100,000 - that is, until I have no idea what I could possibly buy that's not an LFA. I mean, I could buy two cheap things (An Aprilia Tuono V4R and a Subaru Legacy) or whatever have you, but damn it - it's hard to pick a few.
What say you, Oppo? What would you spend $100,000 on? And note - there's a cap stuck at $100,000, kind of like Gran Turismo.

$1,000,000, with the proper planning.

But what if it's just $100,000 and no higher?

I think he is saying he would invest and turn it into a mil

If you have enough money, just buy more money.

I think I would pay off my current auto loan then spend the rest on a F-Type

You'll need to win 3-4 more times to score an LFA. They run in the ~$300k range now, and some can touch $400k.

New Viper. Or maybe a couple used ones.

W221 S65, and keep the rest for running cost.

Honestly I spend too much time thinking about this, window shopping and all. I would buy a built brenspeed stroker block, supercharge it up to around 800 whp. New paint, wide rubber, a set of slicks. All said and done it'd be about $40k making my stang the fastest in the city.
A used ducati monster 796 - ~$10k
A blobeye sti for the winter - ~$20k
A used 993 turbo for the track -~$30k
What do you guys think?

You're not buying any decent 993 for 30k, or close to that...definitely not touching any Turbo for less than at least twice that. In fact you could easily spend 100k on a 993 Turbo all by itself. But otherwise sounds like a decent plan.

I like the way you think

Well, honestly, if I had 100k, I'd move into a nicer place and take out a loan on an M5, and then invest about 50k in order to generate some decent return.

oops I meant 930

I'd spend about half on an MK7 Golf R, with a few mods.
the rest is savings

Ahhh ok now it all makes sense.

I mean are we talking realistically what would we spend it on, or does it have to be devoted to the jalop world. Realistically, pay down debt, save some, all that fun stuff...probably unload my car in the spring when people are looking by a CTS-V wagon.
If it was strictly an automotive thing...gets a little bit tougher. Likely would involve throwing some cash at my car and acquiring a used Sierra Denali HD, and maybe throwing some cash at my truck too.
How's that for exciting?

And I'm saying you can't go over $100,000. Had to edit original post.

Ferrari 308
Lincoln continental mark 4
Morgan 3 wheeler? Need to fill in something British.
My dream garage would have 1 car from every major automobile producing country.

GT-R. Or a C7 and an EVO.

~$75k for a Mercedes-Benz 190SL - they're appreciating pretty well now
~$25k for a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 - they're a pain if you don't buy a good one

Parts for my E39 ~$5k (new bilstien or koni suspension, brakes/rotors, paint, wheels/tires, nothing crazy just a reliable daily driver)
E46 M3 ~$15k
Subaru 2.5rs with STI swap (winter car) ~$15k
Triumph Street Triple R ~$9k
BMW 75/90 Cafe project bike ~$4k
Use the rest to modify the E46 into a CSL or save it for a 911 turbo (not sure what gen)

Well, technically you use money to buy mechanisms that convert aggregate time and energy into more money. We call those mechanisms "businesses".
![]() 12/26/2013 at 17:19 |

You do spend $100,000, and no higher. At no point would I spend higher than $100,000. I would spend it by buying people's time and energy away from them, and then sell that (plus other resources you bought) for more money later on. That's called a business, or investment.

But in all actuality, 240Z G-nose with a twin turbo methanol injected VK45DE GT500 motor, welded chassis, custom interior, and a bunch of computer monitoring and optimizing equipment for it, plus all sorts of suspension, brakes, and other drivetrain goodies.

I'm saying is that you're left with $100,000. You can't earn money back.
